Join our Playing Sessions!

2010-12-17_21-02-43_391The Portland Recorder Society gathers for large ensemble playing sessions the third Friday of each month at 7:00 pm, September through May.  Each session is led by a professional conductor with music provided.  All playing levels are welcomed and all sizes of recorders from contrabass to sopranino are needed.  Other “recorder-friendly” instruments such as viol da gambas and soft reeds are welcomed.

Please bring instruments, pencil, music stand, and a battery powered stand light, if you have one.

NEW OFFERING:  Feeling less than confident playing with the large group?  Getting lost often?  Or are you starting a new size instrument, or reading a new clef?  Just need some refresher technique?  Join Zoe in the second hour of the Friday playing session for a breakout group just for you!  We’ll work on rhythm, intonation, and ensemble skills to help you enjoy music making with others even more.

Sessions are held at McMenamin’s  Kennedy School Community Room located at 5736 NE 33rd. Ave., Portland, Oregon.  As of January 23rd, 2015, the venue will be TaborSpace, inside the Mt.Tabor Presbyterian Church at 5441 SE Belmont St. Portland, Oregon.  The time is also changed to 7pm.

Please note that parking at the Tabor Space is easy!  Use their lot with the entrance on 54th Ave.  You may enter the building on the walkway directly across from the parking lot entrance.  Come in those doors on the lower level and look for the second door on the right, the “Dining Room”.  No stairs required!
