President’s Message

At its November meeting, the PRS Board decided to continue with online playing sessions through the rest of the ’21-’22 season. It was not an easy decision to make, as we, like most of you, are longing for in-person gatherings, where we can make music and conversation face-to-face.

At this point in the pandemic, we are experiencing a lot of uncertainty; Oregon’s indoor mask mandate is currently projected to extend at least into early 2022, and experts are voicing concern about a post-holiday surge in cases. Holding online playing sessions for the rest of the season not only ensures that we all stay safe, it gives our board members some consistency in planning, and it gives you, our participants, a sense of consistency in your expectations.  If, in the Spring, it becomes safe to do so, we will provide some in-person playing sessions to our local members. This would be in addition to, not in lieu of, our online playing sessions. Stay tuned.

We are grateful to all of you for the amazing support you have given us throughout this pandemic. While playing together online may not be the perfect substitute for in-person playing, it has had some wonderful benefits; it has kept us together at a time when we would otherwise have been completely separated, and it has allowed players from across the continent to join us in making music.

We look forward to the time when we can once again meet in person; for now, we look forward to seeing you online!

Warmly, Susan Campbell PRS Board Chair
