
Professional recorder player and music historian Jennifer Carpenter performs and teaches regularly throughout the southwest. Her pursuit of early music studies brought her to study at the University of North Texas where she received a Master of Music degree in musicology with an emphasis in early music performance and has completed the course work for a PhD in the same field. In addition to her private teaching, she has been on the faculty of a number of early music workshops and is a frequent guest presenter with recorder societies throughout the US and Canada.
Her enthusiasm for working with amateur recorder players led her to serve on the Board of Directors of the American Recorder Society, where she now works as their marketing director. Currently, she is the music director for the Denver Recorder Society. As a musicologist Jennifer worked as a Teaching Fellow at UNT and was an Associate Professor of Music History at Collin College from 2008 until the birth of her son in early 2013. She has published several articles spanning early music topics and continues to enjoy sharing her research,

English Renaissance and early Baroque theaters were filled with music, both within the plays and between the acts. Step into a world of theatricality that is at times playful, satirical, and even sublime. With selections that blur the lines between the stage and the salon, we’ll explore music that entertained the masses from Henry VIII, Byrd, Morley, Adson, Johnson, and others. Explore the mischievous and the charming nature of music fit for Shakespeare and other popular masques and revels, which populated theatrical stages across England.
