Hello friends! A hearty welcome to 2025 and we begin the year with joyous sounds of music. On behalf of the Portland Recorder Society, I invite you to join us on Sunday, January 12, 2025 from 2:00 – 4:00 pm at Saint David of Wales Church, located at 2800 SE Harrison, Portland. We welcome all levels of playing and all instruments to join us.
We will begin our session with some rousing interpretations of Susato dances. If you have the book (La Danserye) bring it along or we have copies. Following our warm up we dive into some lovely Franco-Flemish music of Pierre Certon (ca. 1510 – 1572) Que n’est auprès de moi; Clément Janequin (c. 1485 – 1558) Or vien ça, vien, m’aime; Josquin des Prez (c. 1450 – 1521) Si j’ay perdu and Phillippe de Monte (1521 – 1603) La Grand’ amour. We will finish off the afternoon session with a fan favorite, Lance Eccles and his humourous tune Near the Green Woods.
All the music can be found on the PRS website. Print only what you feel you will need. Copies will be available at the session for those in need.
