Early Music of Galicia, Mexico and Peru

Gayle and Phil Neuman are the directors of the Oregon Renaissance Band and the Fireside Social Orchestra, and teach early music ensemble classes at the Community Music Center. They also teach the online Consort Classes with Laura Kuhlman, build early woodwinds, and appear in the movie Buddymoon, and can be heard on the original soundtrack of the film Ben-Hur (2016).
Did you know there is music written by an Aztec composer from the 16th century? In fact, there is a rich repertoire of 16th and 17th century music from North and South America. Come find out exactly how wonderful these pieces are as we explore the splendid heritage of music from these three cultures. We’ve selected some of our favorites that are very accessible and not overly difficult.
